The Pony Journey of Little Miss and Pony Persona MoonDusk

I have always been a pony, so the only beginning I can think of is when I began to reveal myself to the worldwide pony community. I am a switch, so can happily be a trainer, owner, and pony. All my life I have played pony, by myself or with friends. I loved immersing myself in imagination growing up, and gradually my friends decided that they grew out of playing games like that. It saddened me greatly, but I continued to be a pony on my own, at the beach or indoors.

Throughout my life I have been surrounded by bio horses, from riding schools to trekking centers. My friends have owned horses and I've even had my own. I exercised horses for other people and briefly went to equine school in my later years. So all things horse, are "in the blood," so to speak; it was a natural step to get into pony play.

In 2002 I saw my first pony girl. A boyfriend at the time found for me, as I loved horses and drew a lot of humans as animals. I was in awe and instantly fell in love with the concept. Real human ponies! Though I've since lost it, I can remember the picture clear as day. Recently, I found a version of it at a different angle and too small to put on my wall. It's a shame as this picture inspired it all! I would love to do a replica photoshoot one day!

Around 2006 a close friend and I talked about pony play in length for months, before deciding on a pony persona for me, and her as his owner, but due to the distance between our homes, I was free to play as long as I told her all about it. She became MoonDusk's Mistress.

She then introduced me to a friend of hers, who she said knew pony people. It took a while to get in touch with them, but when I finally did, it opened up a whole new world, a world where adults still played and I became immersed once more in this magical place, joining online communities and forums, and looking up the millions of photos of diverse outfits, picturing how I would create my own costume.

The two players were Lady Xanthi and her pony Rivendell, who had been performing at the local New Zealand fetish ball for many years. They showed me their own pony photos and costumes and shared their wonderful pony tales. I had not yet created my pony costume and it wasn't till after I came out at the Fetish Ball 2007 in my basic creation, which consisted of a zentai suit, self-made mask, tail, bridle, and heels, that they first got to meet MoonDusk. It is thanks to them that my pony enthusiasim grew to what it is today, and I owe them countless thanks for their encouragement and help.

Since then, MoonDusk has been out frequently to romp and play with Rivendell, and my trainer persona even emerges to handle the gelding Rivendell.

Rivendell uses his skill to help me re-create my costume designs, including the most gorgeous pony hoof boots I've ever seen. In 2008 I performed onstage with Lady Xanthi and Rivendell as the mysterious unicorn, with choreography, music, elaborate lighting, props, and effects.

Style and costumes developed, and word got out. More pony admirers emerged. I was asked to run a pet play workshop. People's minds were opened up to the many aspects of play and begin to understand that the limit on this type of expression is only in their imagination. There are so many different ways to play a common theme and thats what I love the most about it.

My style of play is very much based on bio equines, from the gear, to paces, to aides, and signals. MoonDusk is a real pony, a show and furry pony. He is very athletic, and enjoys being put through dressage routines and pulling carts. Without his pony boots he can jump rather high, but in the pony boots he can only safely do small jumps.

I love four-legged and two-legged riding, being pulled in the cart, and meeting new ponies to take through their paces. I thoroughly enjoy training ponies and teaching them new things. I also love dressing ponies up for show and parading them for all to see. The ponies I have handled in the past are boy, girl, transgender, and crossdressing ponies; beginners, long-time ponies; and they are all wonderful. I am always open to questions and helping out if a fellow trainer is unsure on something. I do extensive research, so I can help a pony enjoy their dream play session, or discuss openly with them what their pony session can be, based on what they like.

Lady Xanthi, Rivendell, and I gathered together in 2009 to create and launch the New Zealand Pony Play Club, for pony players countrywide, to get together, chat, and play. Our web address is http://www.ponyplaynz.tk/. It has been a wonderful thing, to meet so many like minded people so close to home. We are still growing and developing as time goes on.

We have a "No Watchers" rule, requiring that everyone who comes to play days must participate. This way, those who are new to it get a chance to try out any role they are interested in. We have a "Barnyard Talk," which is our safety talk at the beginning, and food for afterwards. Those who aren't sure what role they want, are assigned the role of groom, to allow them to observe the ponies and trainers and still participate.

Middle Earth Stable, belonging to Lady Xanthi and Rivendell, currently has its own facilities and private outdoor play area. Play days and get togethers are often held at this stable, which is located in the south Island. We have two places in the south Island that we frequent other than Middle Earth Stables, which are outdoors, private, and pony friendly.
