International Pony Play Championships 2009
Minnesota, USA
The event started in high spirits at the Meet and Greet with a little bit of heavy mist and the best chicken soup and fry bread ever. After a welcome presentation, Rebecca Wilcox taught a BDSM pony class, addressing a rarely touched aspect of pony play at pony show events. It emphasized the bio-equestrian BDSM activities applied to pony play as role play. The majority of the groups retired to a beautiful and well-equipped dungeon for play and socializing in the lounge. The last of the zealots headed off to their tents around 4:30 am.
Just a few hours later, the main event day started with a beautiful sunrise and two classes. Lady Carol, a talented energy player and presenter, taught an outstanding blade play class, unique in its emphasis on the breath of application rather than cutting. Mistress Saskia of Denver taught her "Stretchy Kink" class, a creative and entertaining class including lovely pervertables such as rubber bands, bungees, exercise bands, balloons, and staples to a rapt audience. Perhaps not directly applicable to pony play, the classes were enjoyed by all, perhaps most of all by the demo bottoms.
The International Pony Play Championships began after lunch with judges Lady Careina, known as Mistress of the Haven, and Ponymistress Rebecca. The ponies delivered their finest show performances in beautiful tack, exhibiting the passion that only ponies possess. Defiance, Onyx, Slut Stallion, A Horse With No Name, and Buckminster showed great heart and gave their best in each event. The judges had a difficult time scoring the range of contestants, for each had their own style, flair, and talents.
Onyx started the highlights of the Championships with his "mechanical pony that got stuck" on the fence. Slut Stallion put on the best male burlesque performance in the freestyle show class as a BDSM pony. Defiance, newly relocated from Texas to Michigan, demonstrated exceptional dressage poise as expected as well as an inspiring four-legged pony performance in the freestyle show class. A Horse With No Name's sexy and sleek pony pride stood out, as did Buckminster in his first time turned out as a pony for the blindfolded, obstacle cart class, which went beautifully. Buckminster definitely has a bright pony future.
Unfortunately a few of the regular contestants, including Trigger and Firefox, could not make it this year. Hopefully they will make it back next year. Most importantly, those who did make it had a great time.

The award ceremony took place the next day in front of the gorgeous, rebuilt vintage 1800s barn where Onyx, the champion, became his own trophy. Hoisted into the eaves of the barn in a cage, Onyx gave an acceptance speech inspired by Mistress Gwen Freestorm's electrical device addition. Expect to see a YouTube video some day of his champion speech.
The last day included two more classes: Rebecca Wilcox's Power Play class and Mistress Saskia's Hurtee Sticks class. People tore themselves away with great difficulty from this idyllic paradise for ponies. Although a human fox came along, the time just did not allow for a human fox hunt. Perhaps next year the PCC will include a fox hunt in the gorgeous Minnesota woods.
The facilities offered acres and acres of beautiful farmland and woods to enjoy along with the bio horses who enjoyed treats over the fence. The breeding pastures were off limits to humans who had to find their own location for breeding. The hot tub, dry sauna, and community building provided lovely opportunities to get to know other participants between organized activities. The relaxed environment rejuvenated each attendee. New friendships took root, old ones deepened, and everyone seemed to leave happy and satisfied with a plethora of happy experiences.
