Trainers and ponies can learn equine body language for something to do while waiting out the winter. The resources are unlimited. A quick search on google and amazon gives a plethora of ideas to start with. These two links share good beginning knowledge of equine body language.

Other Horse Lovers Including Handicappers by Tom Ainslee and Bonnie Ledbetter; Horse and Pony Body Language Phrasebook by Susan McBane; and Beyond a Whisper: Training Horses with a New Language from the Behaviorist by Ryan Gingerich and Ami Hendrickson. How it applies to your form of pony play is up to you. Perhaps a little research may provide inspiration for indoor play.
